How to spot unsafe road conditions

On Behalf of | Jan 7, 2021 | Car Accidents, Motor Vehicle Accidents |

Not all car accidents in California are caused by other drivers. Some accidents are caused by bad weather, poor road conditions and other issues that make it difficult to drive safely. Here are a few things you can look out for when you’re on the highway.

How can you spot unsafe road conditions?

If the cars ahead of you seem to be acting strangely, that might be a sign that the road conditions are unsafe. Other drivers might pull into another lane or suddenly stop to avoid an obstacle. Keep an eye on what other drivers are doing so that you can react accordingly. Another driver might flash their lights at you to warn you about approaching obstacles.

You should also keep an eye out for anything that suggests that the road isn’t in good condition. This might include potholes, cracks in the pavement and other flaws that come from poor road maintenance. If the road seems to be in bad shape, it might be time to find a different route before you end up getting into a car accident.

It’s also important to keep track of the weather. While you can’t necessarily predict the weather conditions ahead, you should stay up to date on any snowstorms or freezing rain that might be moving through your area. If you’re driving in the snow and see multiple cars pulled over on the side of the road, that’s a sign that the road isn’t safe for drivers. If possible, consider staying home altogether when the weather gets bad.

What should you do if you’re involved in an accident?

If you’re involved in an accident due to unsafe road conditions, it’s important to figure out who’s at fault. Depending on the situation, the federal government or a construction company might be responsible for the accident. The road might also be owned by the state government or a private entity, so you’ll have to do some research before you can file a lawsuit. An attorney may help you figure out who’s at fault for the car accident.

He actually persuaded me not to settle because he believed that we had a great case. So we took the case to trial and he fought like crazy for me. And we won! It was a really good experience —well, as much as it can be for a lawsuit — and I’m very happy I went with them. I’ve been really blessed to have him as my attorney, so I recommend him whenever I can.”
