What steps do I take after a construction site accident?

Going to work each day at a construction site is one of the most dangerous jobs you can have outside of working as an emergency responder. Even if you work at what seems to be the safest construction site, it's still possible for accidents to occur. People make mistakes. Equipment fails. Items fall. Today, we will discuss the steps you need to take following a construction site accident.

First and foremost, you must seek medical attention if you've been involved in a construction site accident. This is vital even if you believe you aren't injured or only suffered a minor injury. An evaluation by an EMT, paramedic or doctor at the hospital will help any legal case moving forward.

Be sure to report the incident to a superior either on the site or at a head office. Even if you are a manager or foreman, you still need to report the incident to someone who holds more power above you. This might include completing an accident form or having it completed by the professional who performs the medical evaluation.

Follow all of the doctor's orders if you've been injured during the accident. If you are ordered to stay out of work for two months, do not return until the doctor clears you to do so. If you must go through rehabilitation, be sure to do so until cleared. Following these instructions is vital to any legal case you might pursue.

Have you suffered an injury due to a construction site accident in Pasadena? You should work with an experienced personal injury attorney to determine the best course of legal action for your case.
