How to stay safe on a construction site

On Behalf of | Sep 28, 2017 | Construction Accidents |

If you work in construction, you know how dangerous the job can be, even on the most unassuming projects. There’s always the chance that an accident can occur and you can suffer an injury. It doesn’t matter how minor or severe your injury is, you don’t want to miss time from work due to a preventable accident. Here are some tips for staying safe on the construction site.

It really goes without saying that you should always wear protective equipment. If you are working in an area that requires a hard hat, wear a hard hat. Purchase steel-tip boots to protect your feet from falling objects or from being crushed underneath a tire or other heavy piece of machinery.

You must be as alert as possible when on a construction site. If everyone else around you is working, do not wander around on your phone. This is just as bad as using your phone while driving. You might walk into something that can hurt you or cause injury to another person. You could also fall into a hole or be hit with equipment.

If your employer offers training, which they should, make sure you attend a session every now and then to brush up on how the company handles all aspects of the job. This might include safety training.

Be sure that your clothing is appropriate. Don’t wear anything that is too light-fitting, as it could become stuck in machinery. Also make sure you have a bright, reflective vest to wear when working near machinery or on a highway construction site.

He actually persuaded me not to settle because he believed that we had a great case. So we took the case to trial and he fought like crazy for me. And we won! It was a really good experience —well, as much as it can be for a lawsuit — and I’m very happy I went with them. I’ve been really blessed to have him as my attorney, so I recommend him whenever I can.”
