What to do after a truck accident

On Behalf of | Jan 31, 2022 | Blog, Truck Accidents |

Some of the most traumatizing automobile collisions in California are those involving trucks. These types of crashes almost inevitably take a huge toll on everybody involved – from the vehicles to the people. While it’s hard to imagine any car crash experience that’s not difficult, having the right information for what to do next is always a considerable asset.

Trucks do the most damage

Those in the passenger vehicle – the vehicle that’s not the truck – are almost always the ones who sustain the most serious injuries, and the passenger vehicle generally takes on the most damage for obvious reasons. The larger size and build of these trucks as well as the heavy loads they haul are responsible for the increased impact that makes these types of crashes so serious.

Truck accident cases may take longer

Aside from the physical and emotional trauma from experiencing a collision, these cases may take longer to resolve from a legal standpoint as well. It’s impossible to predict exactly how long any truck accident case will take to bring to a resolution for the simple fact that no two collisions are exactly alike.

The three “I”s that are often the main factors that determine how long it will take to resolve a truck accident case are:

  • Investigation
  • Injuries
  • Insurance

Big rig accidents may become more complicated when fault comes into play. If you suspect that the driver of the truck was responsible for the collision, it’s crucial that you understand your rights and take the necessary steps to protect them.

Whenever a collision has occurred, the most important thing is to call for emergency services and get all injured people to the hospital as soon as possible. Every moment becomes a matter of life or death, and any delay in medical treatment may result in worsening the toll of the victims’ injuries.

Of all the types of collisions that happen on the road, truck accidents are almost always among the worst. While the amount of time it takes to resolve these collisions is generally more extensive, it’s still possible to win your case and receive the compensation you are entitled to.

He actually persuaded me not to settle because he believed that we had a great case. So we took the case to trial and he fought like crazy for me. And we won! It was a really good experience —well, as much as it can be for a lawsuit — and I’m very happy I went with them. I’ve been really blessed to have him as my attorney, so I recommend him whenever I can.”
