Protecting your safety as much as possible during holiday travel

On Behalf of | Nov 27, 2019 | Firm News |

The holidays are some of the busiest travel times of the year. There are more people driving to family gatherings, kids are out of school, and people are running errands and shopping. Due to the increase of drivers and factors such as drunk driving, a person may be more likely to experience a car accident during holiday travel.

As you prepare to set out on the road this year, you can make certain preparations to make sure you’re staying as safe as possible. When you are vigilant and prepared, you will be less likely to experience complications and unexpected situations as you head out to see loved ones and go to holiday events. Tens of millions of people will be traveling over the next few weeks, and you would be wise to make your own personal safety a priority.

Safety tips for busy travel times

One of the most important factors to staying safe during Thanksgiving and other holiday travel is to remain patient. Everyone on the road during this time of year is probably in a hurry, and everyone wants to reach their destination safely. Many car accidents arise out of situations where a person was driving too fast or acting aggressively in an effort to get around traffic or a slow driver. Other tips for staying safe at this time include:

  • Get your vehicle ready – Before you head out on a road trip, take the time to prepare your vehicle for the long trek. This can keep you from finding yourself on the side of the road because of a flat tire or overheating.
  • Watch the weather – Many accidents are the result of poor weather conditions. This is why it is useful to check the forecast before you leave on a trip to make sure you aren’t headed into bad weather.
  • Be aware of limitations – If you are tired or not in a position where you can drive safely, it is okay to avoid driving or delay a trip until you are able. Your safety is never worth the risk.

Even with preparation and good driving, you cannot control the actions of others. There are times when the safest California drivers are vulnerable to the risk of accidents and injuries because of the negligent and reckless choices of others. If you find yourself the victim of a preventable accident during holiday travel because of another driver, you do not have to suffer alone. The civil justice system provides you an opportunity to pursue recompense through a personal injury claim.

He actually persuaded me not to settle because he believed that we had a great case. So we took the case to trial and he fought like crazy for me. And we won! It was a really good experience —well, as much as it can be for a lawsuit — and I’m very happy I went with them. I’ve been really blessed to have him as my attorney, so I recommend him whenever I can.”
