Children’s bunk beds recalled due to injury hazard

When you tuck your kids into bed at night you are probably focusing on getting them to sleep. You may read them a story, sing them a song and check that the night light is working, as well as other tasks that will put their minds at ease.

When put your kids to bed, the safety of those beds is probably the furthest thing from your mind. You shouldn’t have to worry about the wood components suddenly snapping, but unfortunately, this concern may be necessary.

New recall affects certain bunk beds

Early September, Walker Edison Furniture recalled some of their children’s bunk beds because the product could cause injuries. The Consumer Product Safety Commission instructs families who have purchased this product to immediately stop using it and reach out to the company for a replacement.

The recall covers the company’s Twin Cottage bunk beds, which came in blue, brown, red and white. The bunk bed system included a twin bed over a twin bed with a ladder on the side. It was sold online by various retailers, including Walmart, Target, Pier1, Overstock and Wayfair.

Walker Edison recalled this product after the bed’s support boards broke on at least two occasions. No one has reported injuries yet in connection with the beds, but defective products like this negatively impact numerous consumers each year.

Your reaction should depend on the situation

If this or another dangerous product injured your child, it may be appropriate to take legal action. When you purchase a product, you should be able to count on that product working as intended if you are careful to use the product properly.

Problems with design or manufacturing can cause a product to be dangerous to consumers. However, insufficient warnings about the product may also lead to injuries.

The most appropriate action for you to take as a consumer may depend on your specific situation. However, successful legal action could result in compensation for your child’s medical expenses and other costs related to the injury.
