2 pedestrian crashes show the importance of paying attention

Tragedies happen across America every day. One of the worst, and most easily prevented, is a pedestrian-vehicle crash. In places where pedestrians are often out on or near the roads, drivers have to be cautious not to strike them. Even a single error could lead to a fatality.

A crash that happened in Santa Clara shows how quickly a collision can lead to a death. A pedestrian was walking across the street on Kiely Boulevard when they were struck. The crash, which happened at 3:38 p.m., has little information about it, but the police department stated that it would shut down the area around Kiely Boulevard while investigating.

In another pedestrian collision, a 63-year-old man suffered serious injuries near San Diego. This crash happened at around 7:00 p.m., when the man was crossing in the intersection. The driver who hit him drove through the intersection during a green light, but she did not yield to the man already crossing the street. Fortunately, the man's injuries were not life-threatening.

In both of these cases, you can see how quickly a pedestrian accident can become serious or life-threatening. Some result in almost immediate fatalities.

If you're involved in a crash as a pedestrian, know that you or your family can seek compensation. If you are killed, your family may have the right to pursue a claim against the dangerous driver. If you're hurt, it's wise to make a claim, so you can focus on healing instead of financial changes that may affect you. The right help will make a difference in a crash case.
