Aquatic therapy can help after serious injuries

After suffering a traumatic brain injury (TBI), you deal with constant pain and discomfort. Your motor skills are far more limited than they used to be. Just doing daily chores is a struggle. You accept that you will never be able to exercise again.

It does not have to be like this. Experts note that disabilities and injuries often leave people trapped in a cycle of stress, depression and pain. They can't seem to break out of it. This changes their lives and often leads to social isolation. That can deepen the stress and depression. People struggle with feeling like they are not in control of their own lives.

From a fitness perspective, you may honestly believe that you can no longer get in better physical shape. You may also think that you cannot do any physical activities without suffering pain.

However, many people in your position have been having success with aquatic therapy. It can shatter that cycle of chronic pain. Water makes movement possible, takes pressure off of your body, helps you stretch and can give you a social activity to break your isolation.

Aquatic therapy is different for everyone, but working with a trainer to set up the right plan for you can give you back the control that you want in your life. It can help after a TBI or any other disabling injury.

Naturally, any type of therapy comes with a cost. If you were injured due to someone else's negligence, make sure that you know what legal options you have to seek financial compensation.
