What’s suspected to have been both an alcohol-fueled and speed-induced rollover crash resulted in an 18-year-old Pasadena, California man being ejected from his friend’s car, causing his immediate death. The single-car crash, which occurred along Ft. Smallwood Road, happened at around 4:47 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 17.
A spokesperson with the Anne Arundel Police Department said that an investigation into the fatal car crash showed that the driver of the car involved lost control of his vehicle while attempting to make a turn. They determined that the 20-year-old was driving at an accelerated rate a speed at the time.
Investigators also determined that his excessive speed is what caused the car to roll over and collide with nearby trees. When emergency crews arrived at the scene of the crash, they found the young motorist’s car far off the roadway along an embankment.
In addition to speed, investigators with Anne Arundel police also announced that they had reason to suspect that the driver of the car may have been impaired by alcohol at the time of the crash. A spokesperson noted that it’s likely that he’ll face charges for some portion of his role in causing the accident.
As for the other three occupants of the vehicle, although they were transported to the hospital with injuries, none of them were thought to have been life-threatening.
