How to avoid California construction site accidents

On Behalf of | Jan 18, 2017 | Construction Accidents |

If proper safety precautions are not taken, construction site accidents can become frequent and quite dangerous in Pasadena, California. Construction accidents can be easily avoided if those in charge of the site follow the rules and regulations set forth by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

When working on a construction site, you need to be aware of your surroundings at all times, especially if you move from one site to another often. Some of the most common safety hazards include falls from heights, chemical exposure, negligent site management, failure of safety equipment, falling debris, live electrical wires and trip hazards.

One of the best ways to keep the construction free of accidents is by cleaning up as much as possible. This includes properly disposing of all debris and putting tools away so they cannot injure others on the job site. Make sure all walkways are free of debris to prevent trip and fall injuries.

Whenever training is offered on the construction site, workers should partake in it. The training might be repetitive for some, but at least it will be a refresher that could help prevent an injury down the road. Workers should never operate equipment they are not trained to use.

Some minor injuries can be prevented by wearing the proper safety gear. This includes a hard hat, gloves, goggles, a protective suit and any other item the site requires you to wear.

Prior to using tools or large equipment, perform a safety check to ensure that everything is in working order. If you come across any issues with a tool or piece of machinery, do not use the item on the job. Instead, alert a supervisor of the issue and have it fixed before its next use.

Report any and all safety issues or violations to a supervisor when found. The sooner an issue is reported, the sooner it can be fixed to prevent an injury to yourself or a coworker.

He actually persuaded me not to settle because he believed that we had a great case. So we took the case to trial and he fought like crazy for me. And we won! It was a really good experience —well, as much as it can be for a lawsuit — and I’m very happy I went with them. I’ve been really blessed to have him as my attorney, so I recommend him whenever I can.”
