Tippi Hedren sues to collect on 2011 court judgement
July 8, 2014. Veteran actress Tippi Hedren has filed suit against bosses at two insurance companies in a bid to collect on a $1.5 million court judgement she won in 2011. The Birds star successfully sued her former attorney, Joseph Allen, for legal malpractice after he had a personal injury claims suit, relating to an accident Hedren suffered on the set of soap opera Fashion House in 2006, dismissed without her knowledge. A Los Angeles jury awarded Hedren compensation for Allen’s actions, but she had to claim the funds from American Guarantee and Liability Insurance and Zurich American Insurance executives, with whom he had professional liability insurance policies. However, the actress has yet to receive the compensation and she is now suing for breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, breach of contract and direct action for recovery of judgement. She is seeking the entire amount owed, plus interest and costs.
