A deadly chain-reaction collision happened on the 605 Freeway in Industry at around 2 a.m. last Sunday. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the fatality was a man who was on the side of the road, not in a vehicle.

The call came in a couple of minutes before 2 a.m., about a vehicle that was disabled and in the carpool lane. The initial report said that the vehicle had hit the center divider. Just three minutes passed and a new call came in stating that another vehicle struck the disabled one. By the time CHP go on the scene, there were four more vehicles involved in the crash.

A CHP trooper said that when the other vehicles became involved in the crash, it is believed that one of them struck the pedestrian, whom paramedics pronounced dead at the accident scene. It’s possible that the man was the driver of a 2008 Nissan Versa since that person was unaccounted for, but at this time, the man’s identity was not released pending the family’s notification.

A 21-year-old man from Seal Beach suffered major injuries, while his passenger, a woman from Long Beach, suffered moderate injuries. A couple in another vehicle each suffered minor injuries. Three other couples and another man were uninjured in the crash.

The crash shut down the freeway for around seven hours in order for the CHP to complete their investigation.

If you have been injured in a multi-vehicle crash, you may not know who is at fault for the collision. An experienced attorney can provide accident reconstructionists to determine who was at fault and expert witnesses to testify at a civil trial against the at-fault party. A lawsuit can help you recover compensation for medical expenses, lost wages and much more.

He actually persuaded me not to settle because he believed that we had a great case. So we took the case to trial and he fought like crazy for me. And we won! It was a really good experience —well, as much as it can be for a lawsuit — and I’m very happy I went with them. I’ve been really blessed to have him as my attorney, so I recommend him whenever I can.”
